Full Funding & Modernization
Keep Congress involved in a plan for the future

The next generation of air transportation lies not on the ground but among the stars. To continue the growth and expansion of aviation across America, we must harness the power of satellite technologies to guide our planes home safely and efficiently. The Alliance for Aviation Across America believes that the air traffic control system needs to be driven by the best interests of American public – not the airlines’ bottom line. We strongly support transitioning to the Next Generation Air Transportation System that embraces satellite-based technologies to replace our aging ground-based navigation system.

But moving from the ground to space won’t be easy. To make this dream a reality in the next two decades, Congress must dedicate the necessary resources to accomplish this critical goal. Congress must fully fund FAA, not cut $600 million dollars from its annual budget as is currently proposed. Further, a project of such magnitude requires strict accountability and transparency. Retaining Congressional oversight, not letting the big airlines police themselves, is absolutely essential. Rather than gambling our future air transportation system on an uncertain funding scheme, we must retain a robust general fund contribution that reflects the public benefit inherent in a strong national air transportation system.
